Very sad news today to hear of Alistair Findlay "The Fox" passing away.

The Man was one of the first player's I got to speak with, when I first started as a 19 year old SPROG @ G Blackpool and AWOP was first being launched!

A very intelligent man and certainly had a game about him.

Sum 6 years later he managed to provide myself with the "OUT" to assist in me returning back to Blackpool after DTD with work ready .
As I joined him, Chris Findlay Richard Gilby, Martin Devlin for the drive of I.P.E (Independent Poker Events) Ipe MegaStack

I won't ever forget the opportunity and appreciation for bringing me onboard and helping us with the move back to Blackpool town.

RIP Sir, Gone but never forgotten.

Best wishes to his family.

This forum was what linked me to so many people in the NW poker scene, and brought me a lot of friends. For that I will always be grateful to him- even if he did knock me out of the 25/25 series just before the final table a few years back!

A great guy, and a real gent.

Deeply saddened by this news Chris, my thoughts are with you, Ali and all the family at this sad time.

Your Dad was a true Gent and he and AWOP played a huge part in my early Poker days, I've such fond memories of being at tournaments with Al, he always had time for a chat and a hug.

God bless xxxxxxx

So sorry to hear this news.

AWOP was where I first cut my poker teeth and Al was always there for advice or to bounce a hand off in those early days. The Fox brought so many of us together and helped create lasting friendships, many of which still endure more than 10 years later.

My thoughts are with Chris and his family at this terrible time.

RIP The Fox :(

Fox was a good man

It's not easy running a forum like this day to day, but he gave us all a platform to express our thoughts freely and I appreciate that

RIP

Hi Everyone...Thank you so much for all your kind words and well wishes they are amazing. You'll all be pleased to know that he died very peacefully in his sleep at 11.15 on Wednesday morning surrounded by his loved one.

We managed to fulfil all of his wishes...He wanted to be at home in his own bed with his family and loved ones around him and caring for him. As most of you know he had a wicked sense of humour which remained till the end, his partner Joan Hughes aka Ting Tong, Ally Atkins Dixon was Ping Pong and I was Wing Le, we were his Filipino maids lol. He lifted his head on Wednesday morning and said "Ting Tong, Im hungry get me some soup" lol. He dealt with all of this head on as he did with everything and even after being told he only had 3 months left to live he turned to the Doctor and replied..."Well I suppose 3 months is better than f*&$£*n 2 months, not quite as good as 4 months but hey, we cant have everything we want".

Unfortunately that 3 months was 2 weeks and 6 days but he had lots of fun even playing poker up to Tuesday night, forgive my spelling but he was playing Cher Chavail and had built up enough chips to sit out for 2 hours after only 25 minutes lol.
They're are so many funny stories I could put up and laughs we've had over the last 3 weeks. and I will in time guys.

Anyway the important stuff....My Dads funeral, well celebration of his life, is going to be on the 2nd October at 2pm at Carleton Crematorium with the wake being at The Castle Gardens in Poulton thereafter. The cars will be leaving from D Hollowells & Sons on Devonshire Road. If you'd like to attend and pay your respects you are all more than welcome.

Again many thanks for all your kind comments, we are all in a good place because we managed to help him fulfil his last wishes and had a giggle doing it. Personally I would like to thank all the nurses and Palative care teams that helped us look after Foxy but more than anyone I'd like to thank Joan Hughes ,his partner, and Ally Atkins Dixon for helping me to the moon and back look after Dad, you's both did absolutely amazingly and I love you both dearly, Thank you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

He will be missed loads Dad but NEVER forgotten, love you little man xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
