NW Cash Games

Postby Hutch » Tue Jul 24, 2012 10:56 am

Thought it would be a good idea to put up a thread about cash games. Tournaments get endless publicity but its the cash games many players (myself included) that are of particular interest. These games can be NL, PLO or DC or any other crazy variant. We had some excellent 1/2 NL games earlier on in the year at the Paris in Blackpool and although the games have died off a bit recently and switched to £1/£1 they did put on the single best cash game promotion I've ever seen earlier this year, so hopefully other cardrooms can take note and keep the cash players in mind.

Lets keep this thread updated with the games catching people's attention and any promotions that casinos are putting in with cash game players in mind.

I'm going to give Manchester G a whirl tonight as I've heard its busy on a Tuesday night - looking forward to it. Anybody with any details regarding what games usually run, what stakes and what time they generally start get them posted on here!

Thanks in advance.

Interesting timing Hutch as Chris is currently working on a new section to highlight and promote all games available in the North..both Tournament and Cash Games with information being posted on a daily basis to keep the Members up to speed...so watch out for that sometime soon. :D :D :D

I would suggest creating a timeline where Chris for example puts up tournaments cash games for that week/month, but lock the thread so its info only; that way it doesnt get cluttered with Spamming (thats what Your Cardroom is for)

The concept we are looking at goes way beyond that Rick and would be an info only section with linkage to Your Cardroom but on a daily basis.

On a Tuesday it use to be really early. The first game was about 3pm. However, its later now. About 4.45pm to get a seat on the first table. They always start a £1/£2 table first. Might be in later, not made my mind up yet.

Good luck though :)

Hello Ky,

As mentioned on another thread; I'm trying to arrange a regular DeepStack £1/2 NL Cash Game.
Cash Games in Blackpool recently have to put it bluntly gone down the pan! & to be honest there is a number of contributing factors to this..

Finding a regular day that suits most is again not as easy as I knew would be. But still confident something can be arranged

Anyhow since we spoke I've began texting a few people to see what I can sort & will need assistance from locals such as yourself who wish to play such a game to begin spreading the word to see if this can happen & get back to me with contacts etc.

Pm'd you

If this was managed to be sorted I would be up for playing it if you could message me any details.

Arrived at Blackpool G for cash game tonight, plenty on waiting lists but they can't / won't start the game. Instead of starting the cash game, they opened another tournament table.

Why do casinos consistently shaft the cash game players in favour of the tournament players? Surely we bring in more money to the casinos?

Me no understand.

I can see your frustration Ky but when you think about it they are in a NO WIN situation from the players perspective, if they had opened the cash table then the players waiting on the alternate list would of kicked off because they'd put a dealer on the cash table and then there's your argument= a no win on their part.

Solution = Have a designated cash dealer/s on the night of any comp.

Fox and myself had a meeting at 235 2 or 3 weeks ago, arrived around 6.45 and there were 2 dealers sat at 2 cash tables. There were around 4 or 5 players waiting at 1 table but they waited for a few more players before starting. When we left at around 10 there was 3 tables going...NO COMP though. I'm sure if a casino the size of 235 can do it then the majority of G's can do it, they could of stuck 1 of the supervisors on it if there were any available :?

They took our 'designated' cash game dealer for the tournament Chris. I asked at the poker desk what time last entry to the tournament was and was told that their was a waiting list because they didn't have another dealer to open another table as he was scheduled to open the cash game at 9ish.

I'm sure the people on the tournament wait list would have self dealt, whereas we don;t have that option.

Surely from a business persepctive they need the cash games to open ASAP and to have people sat around for nearly two hours waiting for a game is just ridiculous.

However, to be fair they gave us half an hour rake free when the game started at 10:45.

Waiting nearly two hours for a game to start when the players are ready just isn't excepable. All though i don't play in Manchester G as much as i use too, it would never happen in there. If there's 5/6 players waiting for a game they break their backs to get a dealer, even if it comes from the pit...

That's what you'd think, pull a dealer from the pit, stick them on a tourney table and get a good cash dealer on the table...First table to break, get the dealer back in the pit!!! Biggest problem Blackpool have in my opinion is they don't know how many to expect on a week to week basis.
