Well the Malaga leg of this years Spanish Poker Championships arrive in town this week.It kicks off on Friday night with 100 euro freezeout ,main event on Saturday being the 600 EURO. I am dipping my toe in the 100 with hope of doing well enough to enter the 600 but this after the Virgin and a £100 GUKPT F/O will be my biggest live tourney.I played once before in Spain and managed a 6th place finish and found the play aggresive if not optimistic at times.
However with AWOP CAP on head I endeavour to make a statement, and anyone who should ask about the Forum will be told this is the forum that the winner of the latest GUKPT Main Event resides.

As it turned out I went to casino it is not a 100 f/o as i thought this is a qualifier they are running to the 600 main event but it also has 50 euro rebuys and and 50 euro add on they said they expect 150 runners in this and it to produce 30 or 40 seats. As wednesday when i registered i was number 60.

Well managed to qualify for the Main Event and as it is the first time I have done this live I thought with 20 Players to go I was looking at a 12.30 finish little did I know ended up finishing just before 4 am and was really treacherous as these Spanish guys seem to arrive in teams, and as we were reaching qualifying time there was a lot of flat calling from them only for their friend on the BB to go all in followed by some rapid folding to ensure chips stayed where they should be.Unfortunately dealers are not the best and have little control over tables due to the fact they are not very confident in what they are doing.
Still now got A 600 euro seat which kicks off at about 5 tomorrow.
Missed the first half hour as i did not hear them call, had to rebuy first hand and was then card dead to the break.
Stuck the AWOP cap on after break then found myself all in shortly after I raised with AQ guy puts me all in with JJ flop comes QQJ turn a blank and river ACE.So have kept the AWOP cap on ever since.

Well Kicked off at about 5.30 and with 208 runners I was surprised that they brought proceedings to a abrupt end at midnight have played qualifier until 4 am previous evening they said this was due to shortage of croupiers. So between 103 and 105 will return tommorrow which is not all bad as the dinner at this Torrequebrada hotel was like something Gordon Ramsey would dish up.I had hoped they were playing down to about 32 tonight and with are 10k starting stack and 40 minute levels thought the average would be about 72k whether this is right or wrong I am unsure but thats where I wanted to be.However things went well until they finished early after I think it was 8 levels the running of this tourney and information to english speaking people is quite poor when you consider I think we contributed 40% of prize pool. Its all in Spanish Basically.Anyway to the chase I am Currently leading the Malaga leg of the Spanish Poker Tour with 67k I believe second is on 40k with a average of 19k but yes some have approaching or around 20k but most of what I see is between 8 & 12k.When we return tommorrow blinds will be 400/800 with 100 ante I am pretty sure its this but again the information is limited.A Group of Danish players who I believe are a large part of the tour have assured me they will not change the structure and there is talk of it finishing Monday now.Incidently they have also informed me I have a nickname now STONEFACE lol I took this as a compliment. They believe I have been lucky {not the Danes}but they keep letting me in cheaply, but they have not seen other hands and I can assure you guys and you will understand I am playing out of my skin in a Zone I have never been in before. Now I am sorry if this has dragged on but I wanted you to have as much info as possible before I go cap in hand and ask any of you guys and dolls please GIVE ME SOME ADVICE.
Many Thanks
Norman
It may be possible as they seem to have bloggers I think they are covering it on Card Player Espanol, while I believe coverage is biased,I have led from start to finish today and since the second level of the qualifier yesterday the AWOP cap has not moved.

Well in the end it was a great experience and I was on the TV table for 4 hours but was card dead all day,I got a pair of nines once and a pair of tens but unfortunenately on each occasion even though on one occasion there had been action a mis deal was called this was something that probably happened at least 100 times during the tourny and the td;s didnt have much idea either we probably lost 2 hours time today where there were disputes and the clock was never stopped.
But i ground it out and managed to finish 11th for 1700 euros so all in all it was a great experience.
