When they did running antes for 2 weeks at the G or for however long they did it, it was brilliant. It changed all the comps and made them more enjoyable to play. When you got chips there were more in play to make you feel like you had a bigger stack and was good practice for bigger games which all have running antes.

I think the reason they got rid was because the dealers were struggling but it is good for them to practice as well.

I think they need to introduce antes in all comps £30 and up as it would improve the game. And the sooner the better.

There are plenty of shortstack crapshoot tournaments around if that's what you want. This comp is successful because it gives players the chance to play hands, even in the later stages, without commiting all their chips. If you want a good example of a previosly good comp ruined by the introduction of running antes go to Bolton on a Wednesday night.

15K starting stack for a 1 day comp can easily take a running ante in it's structure without making it a crapshoot. I have played this a couple of times and will play it again with or without the ante. Just needs it IMO. After all the GUKPT structure seems to work with a running ante, granted a 1 hour clock but with 5k less chips.

+1 for the running ante....as Kev says though it's still worth playing without (and I will be playing either way).

Running antes are def the way forward. If anything, IMO, the antes in the wed night Bolton comp dont come in soon enough. I think they start at level 7/8 when the blinds are about 800/1600 or 1k/2k. they start at 100, which is about 1/8 of the small blind. For me this isnt the right ratio. The antes should be roughly about 1/4 of the small blind, therefore i would like them to introduce them starting at the 400/800 level. This would be more inline with bigger comps, and allow a much smoother comp.

They usually have a "big" game over this weekend. They may leave it at £100 but last year it was £150 but there will defo be a game.

Thnaks.

I would also like to add to my previous post that whilst I said I would prefer the antes to come in earlier, I would also like them to enter more blind levels to compensate. Perhaps a 75/150, 150/300 or 500/1000.[/quote]
