Event #51 - $1,500 H.O.R.S.E.

HORSE of a Different Color

The $1,500 HORSE event is set to begin in about 20 minutes. It's spread all over the Amazon and Brazilia rooms, and will likely consolidate here in Amazon Orange. We should get many of the same players as in the $50,000 HORSE, as mixed-game specialists can't resist a bracelet regardless of the buy-in.

It's getting near the final table on day 3 of this event and Phil Hellmuth is Chip Leader. Could he be about to get a bracelet in his last chance this year?( he hasn't a chance in the Main Event lottery)

I'm sure when he does lose it won't be his fault anyway.

Phil Hellmuth, who is still in this event, had a hand not go his way just before break. "How many f******times am I going to f***** blank on the motherf***** river?!" he grumbles.

Event #51: $1,500 HORSE, End of Day 2

Out of Day 1's staggering 803 players in the $1,500 HORSE event, a mere 179 remained as Day 2 began. Though many of the name pros had fallen by the wayside, an unusual face for a mixed-game event was sitting at the top of the chip counts: Phil Hellmuth, in search of bracelet #12 and his first in a non-hold'em event.

Though Hellmuth would trade the lead with a dozen other players throughout the day, by the end of Day 2, he'd have it back again to himself. To win the event, though, he'll have to get through such tough-as-nails poker players as Victor Ramdin, Jens Voertmann, and Keith Sexton.

Omaha-8:

Congratulations to James Schaaf, Champion of Event #51 ($256,412)

James Schaaf, from Torrance, CA, was down to only 200 chips earlier in this tournament. He's managed to come back from nearly being felted to win the entire event. James has never been to the WSOP and has never cashed here before, so this is a great way to start out! Schaaf managed to dodge a bracelet-mad Phil Hellmuth along the way to win it all, and takes home $256,412 and the dazzling WSOP bracelet.

Congratulations!

I am just happy for Hellmuth after a few years of beration from certain quarters that he can only play NLHE Donkamants.

Hopefully now he will get his due respect. Whatever people think of him personally (and I love him) the guy is an amazing poker player with reading abilities so good he may as well have x ray vision.

I agree he is certainly the best tournament player in the world.

Just a shame he hasn't won a different bracelet to show that.
