Final table, £2 tourney

first £130

I had got to the final table as the small stack, in fact I was near the small stack all through the tourney.
I thought I was playing pretty well, big betting good hole cards and stealing a few pots.

Came down to last 4, roughly chips, 70k, 50k,26k and me on 22k.
Every time my bb the button put in massive raise in, think he was noticing i was playing very tight
and saw me as weak.
The chips were moving around pretty evenly apart from the prick stealing my blinds.
I decided as short stack I would have to fight back or go out as a wimp, I decided
A with anything above a 7 I would go up against him.
After a couple of rounds he did his usual raise, this time he pushed all in 26k
I had A8, I put him on a steal or small pockets, so I called, he had 33 and I hit my eight.
He went berserk with the usual verbal *bleep*, calling me an idiot, donk and so on.
Said there was no way I could have had myself winning with A8.

I actually had me 33% ahead, 33% behind and 33% chance it was a race.
As he had raised my bb so many times how could I put him on anything proper ?.

The reason he got the call was because of the way he was playing my bb's.

I went on to win the tourney.

Was it good play or bad play ?

Lol @ him.

Perfectly standard to play back at the guy who always be a-stealin' your blind.

He sounds like just some tosser who thinks he's the aggressive bees knees of poker (of a two quid tourney haha) and hated being played back at and losing.

WP mate, hope you stayed classy in the face of his tirade.

you had to make a stand at some point...

and waiting for an ace is better than i do.. lol

i push back with any 2 cards if i think he's at it .. but i also have to think he's good enough to fold

i make a point of pushing back at someone who raises me bb more then twice, they never do it again afterwards and u know if they do then they will have a legit hand (unless they are a donk)

it's obvious that if someone's shoving wide that you can open up your calling range. A8 ought to be in that fourhanded in a bsb situation. of course it depends on the payouts and blinds as to whether it's specifically good in isolation.

doesn't normally occur to me as i'm usually the one doing the shoving Very Happy

Definate shove.... hs range decreases with every positional raise. So your A8 will probably be beating him most of the time.... When i shove against a player like that, he,s usually holding a monster.

Still it is the right thing to do especially 4-7 handed in that kind of tourney.... well played!
