Ok, I'm just about over this, but I thought I'd post it just to show people that it doesn't matter what size of buy in tournament you are playing there are donkeys everywhere.

So there I am in the $2500 buy in $1m guaranteed event in Manila, been card dead for a couple of hours and not played many hands. No real pressure as sitting with 7k and blinds still just 150/300 with 25 ante, so plenty of play in me yet.

Guy limps early position, normally alarm bells would start to ring, however in this player's case I take it as a sign of weakness as he has limped a few times with A rag and raised with anything better than A10 when in early position. It folds to me and I look down at J J. I bang a raise up to 1500, which he duly calls.

The flop comes down 4 5 7 rainbow, he checks and with 5500 left I decide no point in hanging about and go all in. I know I'm miles ahead but he's thinking, I think he's prob hit the rag part of his A rag. He says "I have 6 outs, I call. " and turns over A8. I'm nervous but not unhappy with the call. He actually has 7 outs, but I'm big favourite.

Turn Q

River 6 hitting his inside straight draw while I simultaneously throw up and hit the rail.

Now I am not complaining about the bad beat, because I'm happy to get my chips in when a 3:1 fave, I just wanted to show that there are donkeys at all levels. (I wonder why I keep meeting them though? Wink )

Er, not completely unlucky at the live game or he wouldnt have got a half page write up in the June WPT magazine! A big live one cant be far away.

Very unlucky in Manila Gordon. Did the guy think it was a rebuy? Very Happy
