I’d just like to record a belated thank you to Alistair TheFox and the rest of the AWOP team for putting such a great deal together with Virgin that I was able to take part in the GUKPT Main Event at Walsall last week. The fact that I didn’t exactly cover myself in glory isn’t really the point here, because when I signed up with AWOP over a year ago I never expected that being associated with the forum would result in such a cracking opportunity to learn from the experience of playing in a big event.

When I first joined AWOP I never considered getting involved with the old Players Club – it seemed shrouded in mystery anyway, and I didn’t feel inclined to push myself forward into such an experienced group of players. But when the VIP Club came along, I signed up for a bit of rakeback – well, why not? – just to see how it went, and I have been surprised at how beneficial that has been. Always nice to get a bit of cash back at the end of the month.

The extra benefits of the VIP Club – the freerolls and other special events - are just the gravy on top.

So thanks to having won last weeks VIP Gold Freeroll I got the chance to play in a £1000 event for the first time, for free. Although I wasn’t happy with the standard of my play, I did learn from the experience, so it wasn’t all wasted.

Anyway, well done to Sneaks for going so deep in the competition, a cracking performance, good luck to Shades and BigBadKen when they play their £500 and £300 events, and many thanks again to AWOP both for the deal itself and the speed and efficiency they displayed in getting me bought into an event barely 48 hours after me winning the qualifier.

Personally, I think that this is a great advert for the AWOP site in general and the VIP Club in particular, and I would encourage forum lurkers and more established members to hook up for the VIP Club benefits if they haven’t done so yet. Just don’t believe Psychodave about pocket 4s being a monster hand on Virgin. Or anywhere else.

By the way, for the benefit of cynics, this is an unsolicited testimonial and I am sure the forum staff are now suitably embarrassed. As am I.

Very well said Ascot, This forum and the people who have built it up and indeed run it are fantastic. They care about any members who show an intrest and want to help you. I was enjoying my little hobby trying to play a bit of poker on the Littlewoods £2 multi table tournys, the wife aswell.
Had a little success,but after joining this forum things have really escaleted, our eyes have been well and truly opened.
We are starting to get out more as we have just joined two casinos and played our first live games, we both love it, looking forward to the virgin festival, Lisa has twin brothers living in Newcasle who we have not seen in a long time, we are staying with them for the weekend, so that will be great.
A £300 live seat to look forward to playing, all down to the people at this forum.
