The G Casino in Blackpool is situated in the Sandcastle buildings opposite the resort’s famous Pleasure Beach. The actual building was previously utilised as a tribute to Coronation Street and was converted to a casino in 2001.
The casino has been completely renovated in June 2007 and has an airy modern feel to it. The poker room can now hold up to 200 making this one of the largest poker rooms in a UK casino. The poker room is "L" shaped, so when there are about 100 players, you do not rattle around in this huge room. The atmosphere is excellent and there is a very varied schedule catering for both small and large pockets with a choice of rebuy and freezeout. The £30 No Limit Texas Holdem Double Chance Freezeout on a Sunday is particularly popular. House dealers are provided for all but the Saturday and Sunday afternoon tournaments and the dealing is of a very high standard. There are always cash games running with a house dealer as soon as people get knocked out of the tournament.
There is always a good atmosphere within the card room and the tournaments are very well run. The waitresses always do their level best to ensure all players receive refreshments, and if you want a full meal, the new restaurant is excellent. The casino features all the usual suspects as house games with roulette, black jack, 3 card poker and Caribbean stud poker. The Grosvenor run a progressive jackpot on the Caribbean stud and this is usually in the region of £250,000.
Anyone visiting the card room at the Sandcastle will certainly be impressed, as it is one of the biggest success stories in the country.
